Abstract/Notes

Objective: This case study describes the positive health outcomes in a 28-year-old female medically diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis following corrective chiropractic care utilizing Pettibon technique.

Clinical Features: A 28-year-old female presented to a private chiropractic office seeking care for rheumatoid arthritis and the relief of migrating peripheral joint pain. Her history also revealed fatigue, headaches, dizziness, joint pain, toe pain, and occasional double vision.

Interventions and Outcomes: Over a period of three months, a corrective chiropractic adjustment technique for the improvement of vertebral subluxation was performed through the utilization of the Pettibon Spinal Model (Pettibon Technique). Digital x-rays were taken prior to initiating care and at the time of re-assessment. The radiographs taken showed significant improvement with regards to structural integrity and alignment of the spine. The patient reported a significant improvement in quality of life due to chiropractic care. The patient remains under care at the time of this case study.

Conclusion: This case study reports on corrective chiropractic care in the management of a woman diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. The adjustments and case-specific homecare administered were designed to improve the structural and functional integrity of the spine via improving subluxations. This allows the central nervous system to function at its highest potential.
