Objective:  To document and discuss the clinical features and resolution of tinnitus in a patient under chiropractic care.

Clinical Features: A 55-year-old Caucasian male presented with tinnitus after a head trauma.  Clinical findings showed a decrease in range of motion in the cervical region.  Trigger points were found in the sternocleidomastoid muscle, paraspinal and trapezius muscle.  The patient demonstrated a positive shoulder depression test.  X-ray revealed a hypolordotic curve in the cervical region along with misalignments of C2 and T1.

Intervention and Outcome: Management of the patient was done through Diversified chiropractic treatment.  The Diversified protocol was followed, and adjustments were made to the C2 and T1. The patient noticed an absence of the tinnitus immediately after the first adjustment that lasted for several hours.  After 17 adjustments and 13 weeks of chiropractic care, the patient had resolution of the tinnitus between adjustments with only the occasional reoccurrence.

Conclusions: This case report shows that Diversified chiropractic adjustments were beneficial for a person suffering with tinnitus.  This case study suggests that chiropractic may be a viable co-management for a patient suffering with severe tinnitus.
