Abstract/Notes

It is a common misconception among students of chiropractic history that D.D. Palmer established other Portland scshools in addition to his D.D. Palmer College of Chiropractic.  The Peerless College of Chiropractic and Pacific College of Chiropractic can be mistakenly attributed to Palmer because they operated with Palmer lived in Portland, Ore. (1909-1911).  During this time, D.D. wrote profusely and published his lengthy newlsetter, The Chiropractic Adjuster.  Many of these writings were incorporated as the bulk of his 1910 textbook.  Although these writings were a wealth of his science and philosophy, they told us very little about his experience in Portland and its growing chiropractic presence.  There is some indication that the writing of this text interrupted the operation of Palmer's school and personal practice.  This brief paper attempts to provide an accurate timeline of D.D. Palmer in Portland, Ore., and to clarify that he was not associated with schools other than his own.
