Abstract/Notes This paper argues that philosophy is needed just as much as science because they are continuous. Assumptions can influence heavily the way we act and often these assumptions are left implicit and not scrutinised, but when made explicit they are communicated in terms of concepts. Scrutinising these concepts can lead to better scientific practice and perhaps mitigate many of the harmful actions that scientific discovery may give rise to. I argue there is no competition between science and philosophy because they explore different realms of facts that are both necessary to human existence for independent reasons. The pursuit of and interaction between both science and philosophy is something that all humans should encourage.
