Abstract/Notes

The basic tenets of chiropractic according to the Founder were a relatively simple set of ideas, first published in 1899.  Over the next ten years, Palmer’s ideas would be challenged, revised and expanded on by others.  Some of the new ideas would be denounced as “heretical.” New schools would emerge, each based on its own “system.” Ultimately, the profession would become so deeply divided on philosophical issues that two distinct camps became identified.
