Abstract/Notes

This paper discusses the difficulties in measuring the force, depth and speed of a chiropractic adjustment and the lack of published data on those factors that contribute to the adjustment's effectiveness.  Because adjusting instruments are ideally suited to research, the various types of instruments and their forcedisplacement profiles are discussed. New developments in both design of adjusting instruments and in sensors may allow further research leading to a better understanding of the forces in the adjustment that are responsible for moving the vertebra.
