Abstract/Notes

It is increasingly apparent that a paradigm shift is occurring in the United States regarding the perception of health, and the utilization of unconventional medical practices. These practices, including chiropractic, are referred to by medicine as “unconventional” therapies. It has been proposed by Eisenberg, et al, that individuals are seeking these practices as an adjunct to conventional therapy (medicine). The Eisenberg study also suggests that the utilization of “unconventional” therapy is not limited to an individual’s medical conditions, but also for health promotion.
