Abstract/Notes

Objective: To discuss the positive health outcomes of a pediatric patient suffering from gastroesophageal reflux (GER).

Clinical Presentation: A 6-month-old female presented with a chief complaint of GER since birth. Milk, soy, and bananas worsened her GER while a hypoallergenic formula helped decrease the frequency of the GER attacks. The patient was also medically determined to be allergic to milk and soy.

Treatment and Outcome: The patient was cared for with Diversified Technique supplemented with the Activator instrument. A care plan of two times per week for four weeks and then one time per week for six weeks was initiated. The infant responded to care with resolution of GER and associated symptoms.

Conclusions: This case report provides supporting evidence that children suffering from GER may benefit from chiropractic care. We support continued research and documentation of similar cases in the interest of evidence-informed practice.
