Title Aneurysmal bone cyst of the lumbar spine: A case report
Journal J Manipulative Physiol Ther. 1981 Dec;4(4):187-190
Peer Review Yes
Publication Type Case Report

A case is reported in which a 17-year-old female with a three year history of back pain, which was unresponsive to previous chiropractic care, presents to the National College of Chiropractic Patient and Research Center for evaluation and therapy. Radiographic studies revealed an expansile lesion within the L-2 spinous process which was diagnosed as an aneurysmal bone cyst. The patient was referred for medical consultation, and following surgical removal of the cyst, returned for follow-up chiropractic care. It was concluded that manipulative therapy without prior medical consultation was contraindicated in this case and points up the need to conduct proper radiological examination in cases of back pain of long duration.
