Update on the Fukushima Disaster: March 11, 2012 was the one-year anniversary of the tsunami that devastated Japan. Therefore, before continuing my discussion of radioactive iodine (1-131) and the use of potassiium iodide to minimize its adverse impact on health, I would like to present an update concerning exposure to radioactive isotopes in Japan during the year following, to estimate an upper limit for exposure in the United States. Concerning overall exposure, a paper entitled "Japan's Tohoku earthquake: 1 year on" that appeared in the March 10, 2012 issue of Lancet, states the following:
