Calcium (Ca) is a alkaline earth metal; along with beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba) and radium (Ra). It is tbe 5th most abundant element by mass in the Earth's crust, in seawater and in tbe human body. Bone is tbe largest repository of stored calcium in the human body at ninety nine percent, witb only one percent circulating in the bloodstream as ionized calcium.
