Title Linking craniocervical subluxation in infants with breastfeeding difficulties [case report]
Journal ICA Rev. 1997 Jul-Aug;53(4):42-48
Peer Review Yes
Publication Type Case Report
Abstract/Notes Two case studies of infants ranging in age from 2 days to 4 months with inability to breast-feed successfully secondary to apparent decreased mandibular excursion. Intraoral evaluation and chiropractic analysis proved valuable in ruling out pathology and demonstrating upper cervical and cranial subluxation resulting in dysfunction, biomechanics of the temporamandibular joint restricting excursion of the mandible. Correction of subluxation helped restore natural suckling patterns for these infants.
