Abstract/Notes

This paper will discuss the history of the development of cranial manipulation and cranial sacral therapy and the conflict between the osteopathic and chiropractic professions in this regard.  Emphasis is placed on the fact that a gray area exists when patients, needing care from a doctor, are left in the hands of a layperson without the knowledge of primary healthcare or proper training.  Chiropractors are encouraged to use terms like chiropractic cranial manipulation, chiropractic cranial therapy, or SOT cranial therapy, instead of the term craniosacral therapy (CST), to avoid some of the confusion.
