In December 2011, Marc Kirshner, a 46-year-old DC in Connecticut, pleaded guilty to $1.7 million in insurance fraud related to billing issues. Stephen M. Perle, DC, MS, and professor of clinical sciences at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, says fraudulent billing is the most common ethics violation that doctors of chiropractic commit.
