Abstract/Notes Most chiropractic educational institutions teach Diversified techniques but, in addition, some offer instruction in other technique systems as well. Many chiropractors utilise in their practices techniques which they have learned not in their pre-professional educations but at weekend seminars or other programs before or after their graduations. Pre-professional program accreditation standards require the production of a graduate who would be expected to be competent in the adjusting and other skills they have learned and to be aware of their personal and professional limitations in applying them. Registration authorities require practitioners to work within their competence and to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date, but this is not independently assessed. It is suggested that the best interests of the public would be served by educational institutions offering their students instruction in techniques that are commonly used by the profession but currently not taught at the pre-professional level.
