Title Bloomington-Normal, illinois: A chiropractic tale of two cities
Journal Chiropr Hist. 2010 Winter;30(2):49-64
Peer Review Yes
Publication Type Article
Abstract/Notes Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, chiropractors take on the medical establishment in a fight for their right to obtain limited hospital privileges. Allegations that the hospitals' medical staffs conspired to restrain trade by excluding doctors of chiropractic brought the Federal Trade Commission to the Twin Cities for the first-ever investigation involving chiropractic. This paper chronicles the events leading up to and surrounding the investigation and ends with the story of reconciliation and multi-disciplinary collaboration resulting from education and communication, rather than litigation or government intervention.
