Title Cracking the sports barrier: chiropractic and professional athletes in America
Journal Chiropr Hist. 2010 Summer;30(1):53-63
Peer Review Yes
Publication Type Article
Abstract/Notes Bennett and Peck examine the history of the growth and use of chiropractic within American sports. Since 1974, when chiropractic licensing laws had been secured in all fifty states, increasing use of chiropractors in sports reflected the growing legitimacy of chiropractic within the larger society. Interviews with team chiropractors currently employed by major sports teams provide a key primary source indicating how chiropractic has evolved to become a mainstream part of teams' medical care, helping to protect the multi-million dollar investments owners make in their players.
