Abstract/Notes The higher athletes climb toward elite events in the world of sports, the more obvious it becomes that the mind is as much a part of performance as the body. Some of the issues athletes face may be more complex than even a sports DC feels qualified to address. This article touches on a few of the possible reasons for referring an athlete patient to a certified sport psychologist.
