Abstract/Notes The year 2010 will mark a significant generational shift for chiropractors from past decades of State registration and accreditation processes to a national scheme as a matter of Federal government policy. This paper notes proposed specific changes marked by a dramatic reduction of statutory healthcare practitioner boards in Australia; improved public safeguards; easier practitioner jurisdictional access rights; less ‘red tape’ and costs and, above all, stresses the need and opportunity for chiropractors to jointly work in the public interest with all healthcare professions. It details the new bodies, agencies and boards to be established both chiropractic specific and in overview, and the scheme’s emerging transitional arrangements. Some recommendations are made along the way.
