Abstract/Notes Kienbock's disease is an isolated collapse of the lunate most commonly encountered in young adult males. Although the complete etiology and natural history remain unclarified, most sources suggest an avascular mechanism. Radiographic information, principally that obtained from the posteroanterior projection, is used to appropriately stage the disease process. Progression of the disease is important for appropriate application of treatment algorithms and development of management protocol. Treatment goals are aimed at limiting joint deformity, thereby preventing progressive degeneration.
