Title Torticollis: A chiropractic case study [case report]
Journal Palmer Jnl Res. 1995 Mar;2(1):23-26
Peer Review Yes
Publication Type Case Report
Abstract/Notes Several classifications of torticollis have been described. Of the many varieties, acquired torticollis (AT) is the most commonly encountered by the chiropractic physician. Acquired torticollis is a subclassification of toreticollis with either traumatic, non traumatic, or insidious etiologies. Several researchers have reported that subluxations of the upper cervical bertebrae are causative factors in patients with AT. Chiropractic treatment of AT focuses on a reduction of the cervical spine subluxation that may be causative. in this report, a severe case of AT was treated using the Palmer Upper Cervical Specific Technique, and followed up for a four month period. With only four chiropractic adjustments given over this period of time, excelent results were seen. The case history, treatment, and results are outlined below.
