Abstract/Notes D.D. Palmer stated that chiropractic was based on tone in his 1910 book, The Chiropractor's Adjustor. His world was a simpler one, where what you saw was more empirical and less anecdotal. In others words, no one argued with him when he said that. As chiropractic developed, others changed the title in the marquee and exactly what chiropractic was based on shifted. Many of us in the profession these days see subluxation as the basis of chiropractic, as our history also supports. I'd like to put it to the reader that Dr. Palmer and every last one of the chiropractors who followed him were misguided in understanding chiropractic's true foundation.

Like it or not, deep breath, chiropractic is based on one thing and one thing only: POWER!
