Journal JACA Online. 2006 Nov;43(8):Online access only p 8-18
Peer Review Yes
Publication Type Article
Abstract/Notes The study examines injuries to amateur community football players between the ages of 7 and 19 years in the greater Ottawa [Canada] region and tests the feasibility of creating an injury surveillance program to track incidence and prevalence of injuries in amateur-community sport. The study found an increased risk of potentially catastrophic injuries among the youngest players in the league. The authors also present an evidence-based rationale for modifying training programs and coaching techniques.
