Abstract/Notes It's a good time for chiropractic in Pennsylvania. "We have been working diligently the past 7 years to help build upon the credibility of the profession with the legislature, the administrations and the consumers in the commonwealth. It is working!" says Gene Veno, executive vice president of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association. "The major legislation over the last three years that we have seen passed makes it evident that we've established the importance of chiropractic care in Pennsylvania." Among those successes are 2 bills that became law in July 2002, defining what physical therapists can and cannot do, and setting a clear demarcation between physical therapy and chiropractic adjustment. Pennsylvania delegate Mario Spoto, DC, says the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association leadership recognized the need to define these terms because the state had not previously done so. "It was important," says Dr. Spoto, "to have clear, specific definitions so the licensing boards, consumers, and 3rd-party administrators would understand who was able to perform these specific services and who could not." .
