This is a brief overview of the development of physical therapy from its initial formation to the present. Physical therapy has from the beginning, and through its development, had a strained relationship with chiropractic. In contrast to chiropractic, it was created of necessity and won the respect of government and medicine early in its development. Physical therapy is a young, developing and emerging team partner in the health care system.
