Abstract/Notes

A case is presented relating excessive midtarsal pronation to chronic inversion sprains of the ankle. Motions of the midtarsal joints are discussed and theory of the midtarsal locking mechanism is examined. The necessity of proper orthotic management is emphasized in the treatment of excessive midtarsal pronation.
