Search Boxes
From the pull-down menus beside the search boxes,
select the default ALL FIELDS, or restrict terms or phrases
to AUTHOR, SUBJECT KEYWORD or word or phrase in the ARTICLE
TITLE or NOTES fields.

# 2: Boolean Operators
Select AND,
OR, or NOT from the pull-down menus to combine terms in the search boxes.
Tip
# 3: Phrases
Use quotation marks to retrieve phrases in any field.
Example: "low back pain", "future of chiropractic"

# 4: Authors
Choose names from SELECT AUTHOR,
the online author index, or enter author last name in the pull-down AUTHOR
field.

# 5: Subjects
Choose terms from SELECT SUBJECT
HEADING, the online subject index, or enter a subject word or phrase
in the pull-down SUBJECT KEYWORD field. A word or phrase
entered in the SUBJECT KEYWORD field retrieves all SUBJECT
HEADINGS containing that word or phrase.

# 6: Wildcards
Use an asterisk (wildcard) to retrieve all forms
of a word (also called truncation).
Example: injur* retrieves injury, injured, injuries

# 7: Search History
Click SAVE SEARCH after each
search to build a search history. Combine search statements using AND,
OR, or NOT from the pull-down menu.

# 8: Limiters
Limit searches by journal, year of publication,
peer review or publication type. Limit before searching.

# 9: Web Links and Abstracts
Links to journals (sometimes full text) or PubMed records are provided where available. From February 2006, ICL includes abstracts where available, with the permission of the journal publishers.
