Here is a new page that will help you keep up to date with what’s being written about in the non peer reviewed chiropractic press. All these publications are free online (with one partial exception) and we have included Google search links for most of them. Explore Magazines & Newspapers.

Until recently, you could only view or save the citations you retrieved after every separate search. There was no way to gather all your results in one place, and hold them there until you were ready to view them as a collection.

Now you can do this, by using ICL’s new Hold Citations feature. While viewing a results screen, simply select the citations you want to keep, and then click >Hold Citations. When you want to view your collection, click >Held Citations. If you decide you want to delete some, simply select them and click >Remove Citations.

The collection will last as long as you are connected to ICL, and you can Print, E-mail or Download your citations. You may download your collection into personal bibliographic managers such as Reference Manager, Pro-Cite, EndNote and Refworks. For Refworks, select the ICL filter. For the others, select the NLM PubMed filter.

In a perfect world, all publications would be free to all people. However, publishing is a business and although a number of journals are provided on an Open Access basis, many require subscriptions.

In ICL we provide links to free full text whenever possible. Several journals indexed in ICL are included in PubMed Central, a permanent repository of Open Access journals. For those journals we make links to PubMed Central.

For journals requiring subscriptions, we usually use DOIs, or Digital Object Identifiers. These are unique numbers assigned to individual journal articles, such as this one, http://dx.doi.org/doi:10.1016/j.clch.2009.03.005 which links to the publishers of an article from the March 2009 issue of Clinical Chiropractic.

Some journals are available by subscription through more than one publisher. In the case of JMPT, for example, we provide PubMed links to PubMed’s Links>Linkout feature. See this example from the June 2009 issue of JMPT. This link, located at the end of the abstract, provides the opportunity to select from various publishers.

Our Open Access Library provides links to a wide variety of materials, including articles, books, journals and journal repositories.

Some journals are not available online, and you may have to contact a library and use a document delivery service. See CLC Member Libraries and follow the links to their services.

There are several ways within the ICL site to keep up to date with some of the published literature, particularly in chiropractic.

• Browse Recent Issues
  Every new issue indexed in ICL is automatically captured through the links on this page. From here you can browse the last couple of years of ICL journal records for the current journals indexed in ICL. Links to PubMed records and PubMed Central journal archives are also included, where available.
• Journal RSS Feeds
  RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary, and is a newsfeed technology that allows people to subscribe to frequently updated content. In this section of the site we provide links to RSS feeds for the journals indexed in ICL, where available, along with links to the detailed ICL entries for those journals. We also provide RSS feeds for some major journals not indexed in ICL. You can read the feeds right from the ICL site, or subscribe to them and read them through the newsreader of your choice.
• eTOCs / E-mailed Tables of Contents
  Most journals now offer this service – tables of contents e-mailed to your desktop. See Journals Indexed to link to the home pages of the journals in ICL, and follow the links to the eTOCs subscription pages. For some journals not indexed in ICL, select a journal from the Journal RSS Feeds section and click on the journal’s image. Example: eTOC registration page for Spine

  When we add something new to the ICL site, we make a blog entry. You can read the blog or subscribe to it. We also welcome your comments on anything you read on the blog.
