Abstract/Notes
Since the 1950s the practice of chiropractic in France has been legally exclusive to medical doctors, whereas the practice of chiropractors has been considered the illegal practice of medicine. During the same period, the public and medical professions have become increasingly interested in chiropractic and other health care methods that were not taught in universities. These developments led public authorities and medical institutions to investigate the legal and scientific aspects of these methods. Chiropractors in France are involved in complex circumstances: legal and societal, as well as national, European and international.
